As a Project Engineer at DSE Electric, Inc., you will support the technical, administrative, and coordination aspects of electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role serves as a key bridge between the field and project management, with primary responsibility for managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, key project tracking logs and project documentation. The Project Engineer ensures information flows accurately and timely, supporting efficient execution, quality control and project profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. RFIs, Submittals & Technical Documentation
- Prepare, submit, track and manage RFIs, ensuring timely responses and proper distribution.
- Prepare and coordinate submittals, shop drawings, project data, samples and substitution in accordance with contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate RFI, submittal and key tracking logs, including revision history and approval status.
- Review drawings, specifications and addenda’s to identify scope requirements, conflicts or discrepancies as well as cost impacts.
- Ensure approved submittals and design clarifications are incorporated into current project documents and communicated to the field.
2. Change Orders & Scope Tracking
- Assist in the preparation, documentation and tracking of change order requests (CORs) and change orders (COs).
- Maintain change order logs, including status, pricing, approvals and schedule impacts.
- Coordinate with Project Manager, field team and vendors to capture scope changes accurately and timely.
3. Procurement & Tracker Logs
- Maintain and update procurement tracker logs, including material status, purchase orders, lead times, delivery dates, and filed receipt confirmation.
- Track long lead-time items and proactively flag potential schedule risk to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, vendors and field supervisors to ensure materials are ordered, delivered and align with project schedule.
4. Project Coordination & Communication
- Serve as the coordination point between project managers, field team, general contractor, engineers, subcontractors and vendors/ suppliers.
- Attend coordination meetings, job walks, and project meetings, including documenting action items and ensuring follow-up.
- Maintain and update key project logs, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement and drawings logs.
- Support schedule updates by tracking deliverables, approvals and material readiness.
5. Budget & Cost Support
- Assist with job cost support related to material pricing, labor impact and change work.
- Coordinate with project managers, administrator and accounting to ensure backup documentation supports billings and change orders.
- Provide timely inputs to project managers for forecasting and cost to complete updates.
6. Field Support & Quality Assurance
- Support field team with technical clarifications, approved documentation, and material coordination.
- Assist with ensuring work aligns with approved drawings, specifications and submittals.
- Participate in inspections, punch walks, and verification of completed work as needed.
7. Project Closeout & Log Completion
· Ensure all project logs (RFI, submittal, change orders, procurement, drawings) are completed and accurate at closeout.
· Assist with O&M manuals, warranties, as-builts drawings and final documentation.
· Support timely and organized project closeout in accordance with contract requirements.

Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in electrical construction, preferably in Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or similar role.
- Working knowledge of electrical construction documents, including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs and change orders.
- Proficient with construction/ project management software (e.g., Bluebeam, MS Project, Procure, or similar platforms).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), strong Excel preferred.
