Job Duties:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated candidate who will have hands-on experience in physical therapy documentation, with the ability to review clinical records for CPT coding accuracy and documentation accuracy, address billing discrepancies and documentation. This role requires a strong understanding of medical knowledge, billing and denials management, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and service excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review physical therapy documentation (EMR: WebPT) to ensure appropriate and matching CPT codes are used before submission.

  2. Prepare, review, and transmit completed notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer-specific and regulatory guidelines.

  3. Follow up on missing notes and inform each provider and ensure all missing notes are done. 

  4. Identify and resolve insurance and demographics errors.

  5. Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguard patient confidentiality.

  6. Occasionally assist with administrative tasks including insurance verification and authorizations.


Requirements:

  1. Physical therapy experience preferred.

  2. Minimum of 3 months of experience in medical review, billing, preferably in a physical therapy setting.

  3. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, modifiers, and insurance billing processes.

  4. Ability to identify and correct documentation errors or mismatches in CPT coding.

  5. Experience handling medical billing denials and appeals a plus.

  6. Proficiency with billing software; prior experience with WebPT and Therabill is a plus. Must be comfortable using Excel and managing digital records.

  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  8. Strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently.

  9. Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards.

Education Requirements:

Must have a Associate’s Degree
Must have a High School Diploma

Skill Requirements:
